Parents

Hey There Parents!

Welcome to the Catholic Campus Ministry at Virginia Tech, home of the Catholic Hokies! Whether you are a new parent, a returning alumni, or a member of our community, we are excited to meet you and help you to feel at home. Join our weekly email list to get updates on all the events happening during the semester or check out our calendar.

Student Involvement

There are many ways for students to get involved in our community, by connecting through service projects, daily liturgy, and social events. As well students are welcomed and encouraged to to visit the Newman House (203 Otey St) during the week to catch up with friends, or even play some volleyball.

Our professional staff and student leadership is here to help you or your student get connected! Fr. Tom Yehl, YA is our full time Chaplain. He loves to meet with students for a good conversation, lunch downtown, or for spiritual encouragement. Please drop by the campus ministry house when you are in town!

Newman Community Testimonials

“The Virginia Tech Newman Community has been a brilliant Virginia Tech within Virginia Tech for Ali. She has actively lived her faith; been challenged with leadership opportunities; brought to life Ut Prosim; met her closest, lifelong friends; and developed into the strong, confident, faith-filled Hokie she is today.”

-Dave Buck

“Giving a monthly gift to the Parent’s Circle allows us to feel more connected to the Newman Community. When we hear how many students attend retreats, see photos of Mass being celebrated on a mountaintop, or hear about a speaker at Sunday Supper, it makes our hearts leap. What could be better than to give this small monthly gift and say: Wow, we’re part of that!”

– Lisa Puzio

“Being a part of the Newman Community has made my transition from community college to VT as amazing one. I have met some truly fantastic friends through daily Mass, night prayer, and my Small Group Bible Study. The wonderful staff makes me feel like I am right at home. I am so blessed to be a part of something so outstanding.”
