Find What Group Interests You!
Traditional Choir (10am Mass)
The Traditional Choir consists of organ and voice, and sings in four-part harmony (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass). The music selection consists of traditional hymns such as Lift High the Cross, Be Thou My Vision, and Faith of Our Fathers. English Mass parts are used during the seasons of Ordinary Time, Christmas, and Easter, and a Latin Mass setting is used during Advent and Lent. Rehearsals are in the Great Room at the Newman house on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00pm.
Evan Burns, the Traditional Choir Coordinator, can be contacted at [email protected].
Contemporary Choir (12pm Mass)
The Contemporary Choir features singers and instruments of all varieties and experience levels. There will be a mix of hymns and songs, mostly four-part harmony with instrumental accompaniment, but sometimes a cappella and instrument-only selections. Example songs that fit this music style include “Christ Be Our Light” and “I am the Bread of Life”. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays 8:00-9:00pm in the Great Room at the Newman house.
If you are interested in singing with the Contemporary Choir, please reach out to the Music Minister, Michael Albrigo at [email protected].
Praise and Worship Choir (8pm Mass)
The Praise and Worship Choir is a group that plays and sings modern worship music, and sometimes some traditional or contemporary hymns in a more modern style. It tends toward a more modern combination of instruments (piano, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, cajon) to back up the group of singers. Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm in the Great Room at the Newman House.
Amy Hogan, the Praise and Worship Choir Coordinator, can be contacted at [email protected].
Praise and Worship Nights
Musicians and singers from all of the Music Ministry Choirs join together monthly to provide praise and worship music for an hour of Adoration. In following with the prayerful practice of Adoration, this includes some traditional Latin and hymn music, in addition to modern praise and worship hymns selected to complement and deepen a period of meaningful Adoration with our Lord. More information about rehearsals and how to participate will be shared in the weekly bulletins.
If you are interested in helping out with the Praise and Worship Nights, contact Michael Albrigo at [email protected].
